Whitby Goth Weekend runs twice a year and is the brainchild of Jo Hampshire, this year the first weekend ran from 26 – 27th April and featured bands such as Clan of Xymox, Voltaire and Doctor and the Medics.

Over the years it has grown from a low-key goth music festival to a huge event on the Whitby calendar, attracting Goths, Vampires, Emos and lately more and more Steam Punks.  The bands are fab, the stalls at the Pavillion are filled with more goth/steam punk goodies than you could shake a brass parasol at, and the town of Whitby with its dramatic Abbey, rugged coastline and its links to Bram Stokers Dracula is the perfect backdrop.

Although it pains me to say I didn’t make it to WGW this year, Here are a few images from years past.

I’ve been meaning to go back to Whitby for years now. Not for the Goth Festival I hasten to add, but just because I love it. The closest I have remotely been over the past few years is Robin Hood’s Bay.

  2. Robin Hood’s Bay is great as well – I have done some really good hikes round there.
